Mary Carolyn Davies
1888?- ??

Theme:  Love and Romance

Notes

Not much biographical information is known of this poet.  Ms. Davies was born sometime in the late 19th Century, probably the early 1990's (one source gives 1888).  Her poems are some of this writer's favorites from this era.  For what is known of her story, I recommend a read at the Poetry Foundation, publishers of the magzine POETRY, founded in Chicago in1912 -- the oldest poetry magazine in the English-speaking world.  You can also find examples of her poetry there.

A Grace
Mary Carolyn Davies (1888?- ??), American poet

Bread
Is your hand upon my head;
Wine
Is your warm mouth pressed to mine.

Let us thank the gods who give
Bread and wine that we may live.
